Becoming a Steve Jobs or Computer Empire
After reading the book “The Making of Steve Jobs”, I had a feeling that I was able to live with him all his life. The book is very interesting, as the example of Jobs shows how the computer industry was created and developed, with all its ups and downs. The book is very stimulating, as it shows how one person could change not only his fate, but also see the prospects in the field of computer technology for many decades to come. Whatever obstacles do not get in the way of Jobs, he stubbornly moved forward. Jim Collins defined the basic quality of leaders — this is internal discomfort. This term fully describes Steve Jobs. This man never rested on his laurels, no matter how high he was.
During the reading of the book, comparisons with Gregory Fishman repeatedly occurred to me. These two are very similar desire to change everything in the world and a special three-dimensional thinking. Those born in the United States after World War II were in a privileged position – they were at the origins of creating a completely new direction in industry, were able to take part in its formation and had a direct impact on its design and development as part of the economy not only in the United States, but the whole world. They had the opportunity to lay the direction of development of such a field of activity, which made a change in the life of all mankind.
Fate presented Steve Jobs with some big gifts. One of them was, of course, Steve Wozniak. Largely thanks to him, the computer saw the light of Apple ||, which managed to sell 6 million copies. The amount from the sale became the material base on which the rest Jobs projects were built. Unable to cope with the multifaceted, complex and controversial nature of Steve Jobs, Wozniak left Apple in 1987 and the company’s development continued without him. For 10 long years, the organization of Steve Jobs could not achieve substantial success, but fate again “threw up” his trump ace. Jobs’s subtle professional flair prompted him to acquire Pixar animation company. Bought for only $ 5 million, in 10 years she “shot” the hit “Toy Story”.
It is impossible to say that Steve Jobs owes his success solely to his luck. This man was a source of many promising ideas, owned a strong professional acumen and knew how to calculate the situation a few steps ahead. He could find a successful idea, creatively rethink it and bring it to life at the right moment. Such an approach could provide him and his company with financial prosperity and success. He had the mind of a designer who helped Jobs successfully combine his understanding of the technical content of the device with its appearance and functional features. He was ready to wait until the level of technological development reaches a proper limit in order to conform to his ideas about high quality and the work of the created gadget.
Reading the book reveals a lot of interesting and informative facts not only from the personal life of Steve Jobs, but also from the realities of the life of that time. This helps to understand the environment in which he was formed as a person and as the creator of a multi-million empire that struck the minds of tens of millions of admirers around the globe. This man has already become a legend in his lifetime.
In general, the book is very interesting and makes a pleasant impression, it is fascinating and informative. However, one remark can be made – it is somewhat long and too large in size – it contains as many as 450 pages.
